CBS and Oaktree Foundation Partnership

What is the Oaktree Foundation?

The Oaktree Foundation (Oaktree) is Australia’s first entirely youth run aid and development organisation. They are driven by young people under the age of 26 who believe that education is the key to making lasting change. Over the last four years, Oaktree has raised more than $1 million for development projects and improved the livelihoods of more than 40,000 young people in the developing world.

Why does CBS support Oaktree?

Oaktree and Curtin Business School (CBS) share a number of synergies and values, the most significant of which is our common goal to empower young people through education. Through funding and supporting Oaktree, CBS will be empowering young people in Western Australia by expanding their skills and knowledge of global issues. They can work in partnership to provide youth and children in the developing world with access to quality education.

End Child Slavery

Everyday, 8.4 million children are denied education because they are forced to work as slaves.
The End Child Slavery campaign calls on consumers, governments and corporations to ensure that all children are in school, NOT in slavery. The campaign will equip, empower and mobilise thousands of young Australians to create change by raising awareness of child slave labour. End Child Slavery will peak with the Global Night Shift on Friday 16th May with a symbolic work shift.

Schools4Schools

The Schools 4 Schools program partners’ schools in Australia with schools in South Africa to empower young people to deal with the challenges of poverty, HIV / AIDS, crime and drugs. Oaktree will inspire and educate thousands of high school students through the Schools 4 Schools National Tour, which aims to equipt students with knowledge on issues surrounding poverty in South Africa, empowering them to take action.

As Supporting Partner of the Schools 4 School program, CBS will enable the introduction of the program into Western Australia in 2009 by partnering eight WA high schools with four schools in Kwa-Zulu Natal.
