Step 2Classes

Select My Classes in the left hand menu (if this menu does not appear, your appointment time has not yet passed). The menu will expand - select Timetable/Class Registration link.

Step 3My class page

All your units that require class registering will appear. Ensure that all boxes next to each unit for semester 1 2008 are ticked (they should be by default). Untick any 2007 semester 2 units.

Step 4Overview page

  • Click on the link View my timetable/register into classes for the selected units.
  • You can also select the Register in all activities with a single class for the selected units which will automatically register you for all class types (lecture, seminars etc.) which only have one class option. You may still need to use the 'View my timetable/register into classes for the selected units' link to register in the remaining class types which do have options unless none of your units have any option at all.

Step 5My timetable page

You will view your My Timetable page. This is the main page that you will use to select your classes.

Note:

  • Do not click on the 'View my timetable for the week starting' or the 'View my timetable for registered classes between' links. They are not relevant options for CBS Students.
  • Any days with one or more symbols, indicates there are one or more classes at the same time (usually for different units).
  • To view exactly what the classes are, click on the day (which will be underlined) to expand (click again to collapse). On the example page below, Wednesday has been expanded, Thursday has not been expanded.

Step 6Selecting Classes

  • To select a class for registration, click on it. The different classes are identified by Unit number and class type (lecture, seminar, tutorial, lab or workshop). The number in brackets is the class number.

Note:

  • Full classes will show in red.
  • Lectures and seminars can sometimes be lost amongst the large number of tutorials and labs. Make sure you expand all days to find the full range of choices for lectures and seminars.
  • If all classes for a unit are full, you will be put on a waiting list. As a vacancy arises you will automatically be registered for a specific class and will receive a notification (through your student email). If you have not been advised prior to the commencement of the semester then contact CBS Student Services on telephone +61 8 92667713.

  • If the number next to Places Available is 0 then that class is full and you will need to select another class. Click on Return to My Timetable. If there is a place available, click on Register me in this class.

Screenshot

  • Click on Return to My Timetable to go back to your My Timetable page so you can select your next class.

After successfully registering for one class (note that classes you are successfully registered for will be a brighter blue), repeat the process until you have registered in a class for each class type (lecture, tutorial, seminar etc) for each unit.

Step 7Swapping Classes

  • You can only register for one class for each class type per unit (eg, for Finance Principles 515 you can only register for one lecture and one tutorial).
  • If you have registered for a class and you want to change it, click on an alternative class of the same type. Click on 'Swap me into this class'.

Step 8When you have finished registration

  • When you have finished registering for classes, click on 'Return to the Student Timetable overview page'.

Screenshot

  • Check that the hourglass on the right of each unit is fully blue. If any hourglasses are white or half blue, it means you have missed registering for one or more class types (eg. you may have registered for a tutorial, but not a lecture). Go back to Step 3 to register for your missing class types.
  • If all of your hourglasses are fully blue, you have successfully completed registration.

Screenshot

  • Make sure the 'Only show the classes that I am registered' box is ticked. Click on ‘View my timetable/register into classes for the selected units’ again (the page shows only the classes you are registered in).

  • Print the page for your record.
  • Log out of eStudent and log out of Oasis.
