Plug-ins
A plug-in is a small program that helps to run software that may be in your online unit (eg, Flash, Adobe PDF Reader). Most plug-ins will already be on your computer, however if you have an old computer (more than two years old) you may need to download a newer version. If you don't have the plug-ins listed below, download them for free by clicking on the links and following the instructions. If you are not sure whether you have these plug-ins, or if you have any problems downloading them, contact CBS Student IT Support (see IT services).
The two plug-ins you may need are:
1. Flash Player
Flash will help you to see any animations or interactive exercises in your online unit. You may already have the Flash Player plug-in. Check the message below:
| Macromedia® Flash™ Player |
Note: You must have version 6, as lower versions will not work correctly. Check the message below to see if you have version 6: |
2. PDF Reader
Portable Document Format (pdf) files are usually text documents. They are saved in pdf format so you cannot change their formatting or content. A pdf document is often seen as a normal hyperlinked word on the screen. You need a pdf reader to read these files. Adobe® Acrobat® Reader™ is one type plug-in you can use.

Note: You must have version 4 or above, as lower versions will not work correctly. We can’t automatically detect what your computer has. Try downloading a pdf file from your online unit first. If it does not work, click the icon below to download the plug-in. |
You can either view a pdf file to read on screen or print. Alternately you can download it to your computer to keep a copy:
