Curtin Business School offers two undergraduate degrees:
Bachelor of Commerce
The Bachelor of Commerce course will develop your business knowledge and practical skills to prepare you for a diverse range of business careers, from advertising to banking, property to tourism management. The course is highly regarded and internationally accredited.
Within the course you can choose to focus on one area of specialisation in-depth (a single major); or two separate areas, offering a broader perspective (a double major). No matter what specialisation you choose, your degree will be the Bachelor of Commerce.
Course entry requirements/Prerequisites
No prerequisites (although a pass in TEE Applicable Mathematics or TEE Discrete Mathematics is desirable).

» Accounting
For students who enjoy working with figures and finance. This study area examines the recording and communication of information relating to the financial performance and position of organisations as well as auditing and taxation. Units of study can include accounting, taxation, business law and finance.
» Business Law / Legal studies
For students interested in commercial law practice. This subject examines the process by which law is created, changed and applied to business and government. Ethical issues in business practice are also considered. Units of study can include the legal process, litigation and different laws that apply to business and government.
» Economics / Finance
For students interested in understanding the big picture of how companies, the government and households work. Units of study can include international economics, labour economics, banking, or financial planning. There are employment opportunities in many areas of business, government and the private sector.
» Human Resource Management / Industrial Relations
For students who enjoy organising and working with people. In this subject students gain knowledge and skills relating to the management of employment practices and organisational relationships. Units of study can include performance management, selecting and promoting staff, organisational behaviour and business communications.
» Information Systems / Technology
For students interested in computers and the processing of information within an organisation. This subject examines the management, planning and design of information technology. Units of study can include design, development, project management, technological infrastructure and information systems.
» Logistics / Strategic Procurement / Supply Chain
For students interested in logistics and resources management in business. This study area covers foundations and techniques of management, law, purchasing and contract administration. Students study a range of issues applicable to strategic procurement, including competitive conduct, strategy, logistics and management.
» Management
For students interested in the relationships between people and organisations. This subject will give students skills in management, problem solving, planning, organising and managing change. Units of study can include management, finance, purchasing and procurement, small business, entrepreneurship and ethics.
» Marketing / Public Relations
For students interested in researching customer needs, designing new products and services, advertising and public relations.This subject area is dynamic and examines exchange processes in competitive markets. Units of study can include marketing research, public relations,advertising and strategic marketing
» Property
For students interested in the study of real estate and property. This subject area provides an understanding of the structure and operations of the real estate industry. Units of study can include real estate market analysis, development, finance and business, construction and building costs, property management and valuation
» Sport Management
For students interested in sports and sports administration (and the outdoors). This subject examines the administrative, legal and accounting skills needed to manage developments in the sports industry. Units of study can include sports administration, law, finance, geography of sport and recreation, and events management.
» Taxation
For students interested in specialising in taxation as part of their accounting careers. In this subject students gain a detailed knowledge of taxation laws and practice in Australia and overseas. Units of study can include payroll tax, land tax, stamp duty, goods and services tax, fringe benefits tax and tax deduction issues.
» Tourism Management
For students interested in management within the tourism industry. This subject examines the management of tourism in Australia and overseas. Units of study can include business communication, tourism management organisational behaviour, tourism marketing, tourism economics and tourism law.

Course Structure
First year
In the first year all Bachelor of commerce students complete the first of the ‘common core’ compulsory units that provide an introduction to the different aspects of business and help you decide which major or double major you are going to choose.
These are:
In the first semester students take four of the compulsory units, and then in second semester they take the remaining two compulsory units and begin their specialisation either choosing a single major or a double major.
Second Year
In second year they study one common core unit, Communication in Business 201 as well as continue in their area of specialisation.
Third Year
In third year students complete their specialisation and must complete the final common core unit, the Business Capstone 301. In this popular unit students are placed in teams from across all the specialisations and take part in a simulation of a running a business, using the skills they have learnt in the degree.
Bachelor of Business Administration
This general course in business administration is well suited to those seeking professional expertise in the general management area.
