WiSER Publications & Presentations
WiSER engages in academic and contract feminist research across a number of discipline areas. Key research themes within WiSER include:
- Labour market structures with research interests including: participation, forms of employment, industrial relations, wage structures, pay equity, minimum wages.
- Career and occupational choice including: progression, promotion, leadership, organisational language, education and training.
- Decision-making, with particular interest in the decision-making within households, organisations and the rural sector, examining the impact of public decisions and retirement income policy.
Our research in these areas is typically further disaggregated (eg. demographics, industry, rural). Major research projects are focused on older women’s health and well-being, youth career choice decision making and nurse labour markets. Other projects include retirement and housing and women in Asian labour markets.
Please see below for examples of WiSER's research output in these, and other fields.

This report provides a summary of an innovative research project analysing women's economic and social progress. The researchers held conversations with a diverse range of Western Australians to discuss their goals and aspirations and the social and economic changes which help their achievement. Participants also reflected on negative changes in their social and economic environment and on areas in which they felt further change was necessary.
This research was funded, in part, by a contribution from WA Women's Policy Office, Curtin Business School and Curtin University of Technology Small Grants Scheme.
