About us

DEBII is committed to the development of high quality multidisciplinary research and development in collaboration with business, health, education, and industry.

We are primarily concerned with applications driven research that is strategically positioned to be capable of opening up new vistas in the healthcare, mining, energy and logistics industries as well as marketing, management, accounting and finance through bringing to bear the networked economy and information infrastructure within these domains. This multi-disciplinary approach reflects our view that we are now at the tipping point of moving from the computing era to the “domain centred problem-solving underpined by IT” era.

DEBII structure

The Institute’s focus on multi-disciplinary research is demonstrated through its composition of senior academic staff members from 12 Schools across 4 Divisions, as well as 20 centre funded Research Fellows and Research Assistants who targets the key areas of research identified by the university, local government and ARC, namely ICT for Growth and Prosperity, ICT for health and sustainability, ICT for business intelligence, extended enterprises and industrial informatics. The institute is also supervising more than 50 full time PhD students in these cutting areas of research.

We pride ourselves in having staff and students from many different cultures, disciplines and countries, a microcosm of the new Australia, who represent a diverse yet homogeneous community that displays extraordinary vitality and dynamism.

Location

We are located in the middle of the beautiful parkland setting of modern Curtin University and Technology Park, with its computer rich, library and recreational facilities that provide a pleasant and stimulating environment.
