Copyright
It is the responsibility of the author(s) to obtain written permission, prior to submission of a paper, to quote from or reproduce copyright material.Copyright over articles and other material published in APJEB is vested jointly in Curtin University of Technology and Ryukoku University.
Presentation and Format
All submissions must be:
- Typed on one side only of the paper and double spaced (including endnotes and references).
- Papers should have wide margins (at least 3 cm) and have consecutively numbered pages.
- Articles should be approximately 8,000 to 10,000 words in length (including references, tables and figures).
- Articles should be accompanied by an abstract of about sixty words and a list of Journal of Economic Literature (JEL) keywords indicating the contents of the article. The abstract should summarize the content as well as act as a lead-in to the article.
- Because papers are refereed anonymously, there should be no identifying marks of any kind and only the title of the article should appear on the first page.
- Sections and subsections should be clearly differentiated but should NOT be numbered.
- Authors should supply a brief biographical note (no more than two hundred words), as well as contact details, on a separate sheet, including full name, affiliation, full postal address, telephone and facsimile numbers, and an electronic mail address.
- Figures and tables should be submitted on separate sheets attached at the end of the article. Figures and tables are to be numbered consecutively in Arabic numerals and, where necessary, should include a title (caption) They should be designed to fit into the page size and should be referred to in the text of the paper.
- Vertical rules should not be used in tables and horizontal rules should be kept to a minimum.
- The submitted article may be returned to the author if substantial reformatting of tables is required for typesetting purposes.
- Upon acceptance of the paper, it is required that illustrations should be of professional quality, camera-ready and suitable for reduction to single column width. Photocopies are not acceptable.
- Mathematical equations must be typed on separate lines, with space allowed for copy-editing above and below. The author is responsible for ensuring that equations are presented in a form which is compatible with a standard desktop publishing programme.
- Endnotes should be used rather than footnotes. Any note or acknowledgement attached to the manuscript title should be designated by an asterisk. All other endnotes must be designated by numerals in continuous sequence. These should be short and kept to a minimum.
References and style
- All references should be listed alphabetically by author at the end of the manuscript and must correspond to direct citations in the text, tables or figures.
- Harvard-style referencing is to be used throughout the article, i.e. authors’ names and year of publication in parenthesis. If a direct quote is given, the page number must follow the year, e.g. (Smith 1996: 42). When there are three or more authors, the reference should always appear as the first author followed by et al. All the authors’ names should be given in the list of references.
- No substantial author changes are permissible at or after submission. Manuscripts which require substantial editorial work to comply with the above requirements will be returned to the author(s) for modification. Editors reserve the right to edit papers to conform to the standard format.
Comments on published articles
The journal invites comments on any of its published articles. Anyone wishing to submit comments on an article is asked to send a copy of the comments to the author of the article, inviting the author to respond to the comments. The commentator is to allow the author a reasonable time to reply before sending his or her comments, together with any reply received from the author, to APJEB. If the editors of APJEB accept the comment for publication, the original author will be given a chance to make a short reply in the same issue.
