Legal Issues in Business
Article Requirements
- All articles should emphasise an aspect of law or taxation.
- The target audience should be people in business or government.
- All articles should identify why the target audience should know the law or taxation that is dealt with in the article.
- The articles should each be approximately 2000-4000 words.
- Book reviews of a shorter length are to be published.
- Case notes and notes on recent statutes may be included.
All articles will be blind refereed. They will be sent to a person outside the school for review, with no indication to the reviewer of who the author is. It also means there is no indication to the author who the reviewer is unless the reviewer consents to being identified.
Submission Requirements
A completed cover sheet containing:
- Title of the paper;
- Full name of the author(s);
- Affiliation of the author(s);
- Full postal address of the author to whom correspondence is to be addressed;
- Telephone and Facsimile numbers(s);
- Email address; and
- An indication of why people in business or government should know the law or taxation that is dealt with in the article
An abstract is required:
- The page after the cover sheet should contain an abstract of not more than 100 words.
- The abstract should be structured in short sentences.
- The abstract should contain an indication of the main legal topic, the names of any significant legislation, and any significant cases addressed in the paper.
- The abstract may be used to provide an index.
The following details apply to manuscripts:
- Manuscripts should be written in English.
- Manuscripts should be typed on one side of A4 paper in double spacing.
- Manuscripts should have a 3 cm margin at top, bottom and both sides.
- Manuscripts should be typed in Times or Times New Roman in 14 font size.
- Pages of the manuscript should be numbered consecutively.
- The Editorial Committee reserves the right to make changes that clarify or condense submissions.
- Sections and subheadings should be clearly identified, but should not be numbered.
- Manuscripts should be written using footnotes.
- The Editorial Committee will normally adopt the footnote system, identified in the Style Manual produced by the Australian Government Publishing Service.
- Quotations should be clearly referenced and quotations of more than four lines should be indented and in single space.
- Shorter quotations should be included in the text using single quotation marks. Quotations within quotations should use double quotation marks.
- One printed copy of the manuscript is required. It should be stapled in the top left-hand corner only.
- One copy of the manuscript on a standard computer disk is also required. This version should be compatible with Microsoft Word software.
- The copyright of all material published in the Journal is held by Curtin University of Technology. However, no limitation will be placed on the author to copy or use the article or material contained in the article.
- Manuscripts that do not comply with these requirements may be returned for amendment.
