Research in Applied Economics for Higher Degree Students

A fundamental objective of CRAE is to facilitate, engender and strengthen collaboration among academics, professionals and higher degree students conducting research in the field of applied economics. HDR students working in the field of applied economics are encouraged to access all facilities offered by CRAE, in particular the seminar and working paper series.

ARC Grant: Innovation, Competition and Economic Performance


Details of Grant
Supervisor:Professor Harry Bloch, School of Economics and Finance, Curtin University.
Stipend: $25,188 pa tax free for three years.
Commencement Date: Available for immediate start.

Criteria for Applicant

  • An Australian or New Zealand resident.
  • Undertaking research leading to a thesis related to the theme of the research grant, ideally combining industrial organization, technical change, entrepreneurship and evolutionary economics.
  • Eligible for entry to the PhD program – Honours I or IIA, or strong Master’s degree with substantial research component.

CRAE Seminar Series

CRAE, in conjunction with the School of Economics and Finance, runs a series of lunchtime seminars every week during semester. Topics are presented by senior international, national and local researchers in the applied economics field. It is anticipated that HDR students will attend these seminars as a part of the ongoing research program. Unless otherwise stated, the seminars run from 12 noon - 1 pm on Thursdays, in the Board Room, Level 9, Building 402, Bentley Campus.
