Sustainable Tourism Centre
The Curtin Sustainable Tourism Centre (CSTC) was established September 2002 and is jointly supported by Curtin Business School and the Division of Humanities.
Professor Jack Carlsen and Associate Professor Roy Jones are Co-Directors of the Centre. The CSTC is working towards positioning teaching and research programs at Curtin at the forefront of Sustainable Tourism in Western Australia.
The objectives of the CSTC are to:
- Position teaching and research programs at Curtin at the forefront of Sustainable Tourism in Australia and internationally
- Examine tourism development, including design, planning, management, indigenous issues and environmental and social concerns from a sustainability perspective
- Foster collaboration between staff across a range of Schools and Divisions with expertise in relevant areas
- Supervise postgraduate students whose research could be accommodated within the CSTC
- Serve as a means of leveraging the value of research expertise at Curtin through government and business partnerships
